My Kit's Beach PJs didn't come with a ribbon, and I found out that it's not available as a replacement part. What's up with that??
My grandmother sent them for Amanda (but I gave her the ones I had bought, from my grandma, and am returning the new ones--probably for Addy's nightgown!!). Anyway, the ribbon is there separately, so I don't know why they couldn't sell it to me. I don't want to take it out of the package, but I know that it's 1/2 inch wide. Can someone tell me how long it is?
So--I also wondered if any of the other girls would have a similar length/style ribbon that is a replacement part. It seems like you can get a lot of Sam's and Felicity's.
Thanks in advance you sleuths.

To be completely honest, I wouldn't bother ordering ribbons (other than Kirsten's, which are a different texture) from AG. The ribbon for Kit's PJs is just a plain red satin ribbon, and the one I received is too short for my liking.
I'm big on head bows for all my girls, but especially Kit (who is the Queen at our house). I've found 24" is the perfect length, and you should be able to get 2 feet of the same ribbon at Walmart or Joann's for around 40-60 cents (if that).
And on a semi-related note, 12-13" is a good length for Molly's braids, as well as Marisol's pigtails.

I am not at home right now, but if I recall correctly, ours is too short to even be of much use. DD tried once to have Kit wear it with her pj's and gave up.

Thank you, thank you! Perfect answers, and jrtmom I was thinking of just buying it anyway, because it does just look like regular ribbon, so thanks for the correct length advice. I do think that Kit's hair will do better with a band. We don't do too well keeping it neat with barrettes.
How does her green bday headband work??

It's cotton, and it ties. It's too short to put in a bow, so I I tie it at the neck (or rather, tie it at the crown and flip it around). It's such a great color on Kit, I use it despite the fact that it can't make a bow.

Her birthday headband works better than the pj's one. It is too short to tie in a bow, but jrtmom is right, that color looks great on Kit.

I just tie the birthday band in a square knot and keep the knot at the nape of her neck.
I've also had no trouble with the ribbon that came with the pj's. Mine looks just like the one in the catalog, with a small bow. I got mine soon after Kit came out. Maybe they used to be longer than they are now?
Also, the one that I got is 2/8-3/8" wide, and not 1/2", just in case anyone wanted to know.
One trick I use (for all her head bands) is to tie it first and then pull it down over her head to her neck and make sure it's below all her hair. Then I pull it up over her face and position it on her hair where I want it.
Or maybe the first time I tied it, I started with it at her neck with the ends hanging forward, and then tied the bow up by her hairline/forehead, and then pushed it back onto her head. That way, you have enough slack to work with when you're tying it, and yet it's tight enough once it's on her hair.
And then I leave it tied when I take it off and store it, so it's always the right size.
